NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Saints made their first major moves of what is expected to be a challenging off-season on Wednesday, releasing strong safety Roman Harper, outside linebacker and defensive end Will Smith, and cornerback Jabari Greer. Anthony Sherman Womens Jersey . General manager Mickey Loomis also says the club does not intend to re-sign free-agent linebacker Jonathan Vilma, who has been hampered by recurring knee injuries the past few seasons. ”These were not easy decisions to make,” Loomis said in written comments released by the club. ”Since we acquired them, Jabari, Roman, Will and Jonathan have all been excellent players on the field for us. Each of them were integral parts in turning this program around and winning a Super Bowl. They were a great example to our players as team leaders in the locker room as well. ”However, a new NFL year is about to begin and, with the start of free agency in March, these difficult moves allow us to position our team under the salary cap to move forward for 2014,” Loomis added. The Saints have said they intend to retain free-agent Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham, either through a franchise tag or long-term extension, and both options will require financial flexibility. Wednesdays moves will save nearly $17 million in 2014. Saints coach Sean Payton said Smith, Harper, Vilma and Greer were ”right there at the top” of all the great players he has coached or been around in his coaching career. ”These are disciplined, smart, tough and team-oriented individuals,” Payton said. ”They all played an important role in helping this team and this city win its first Super Bowl and they have all enjoyed multiple playoff appearances and wins.” Smith is a former first-round pick of the Saints in 2004 and had a team-leading 13 sacks during New Orleans Super Bowl season. However, he was widely expected to be released after this season, which he missed after tearing knee ligaments late in the preseason. He was scheduled to be paid $10.4 million in base salary alone this season. He has played in 139 games for the Saints, accumulating 67 1/2 career sacks. Harper was New Orleanss second round draft choice in 2006 and has since started 104 games. He went to Pro Bowls after the 2009 and 2010 season and his 17 career sacks are the most ever by a Saints defensive back. His base salary for 2014 was set at $2.35 million. As the moves became public, Harper posted a note on the social media website Twitter, thanking New Orleans fans for ”the 8 years of .GreatMemories .WHODAT .SBXLIVCHAMPS.” Greer, scheduled to earn $4 million in base salary next season, joined New Orleans as a free agent in 2009, immediately sliding into a starting role he held until a serious knee injury against San Francisco in mid-November, which ended his season. He intercepted nine passes in his five seasons in New Orleans, returning two for TDs. Vilma was acquired in a trade with the New York Jets in 2008. He led New Orleans in tackles during his first three season with the club and selected to Pro Bowls in 2009 and 2010. In 70 games with New Orleans, he was credited with 530 tackles, eight sacks, six interceptions, five forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries. Last season, however, Vilma began the season on the physically unable to perform list because of his recurring knee problems. He returned for only one game before sitting out the rest of the season, and on Wednesday he seemed to be comfortable with the Saints decision not to engage him in further contract talks. On Twitter, he wrote: ”Couple pro bowls and a superbowl ring later, I couldnt have written that chapter any better. .WhoDat” Like Smith, he was a defensive captain, but also like Smith, was implicated by the NFL as a ring-leader in a cash-for-hits bounty program that the league said the Saints ran from 2009-2011. Both players have always denied they ran a bounty pool as described by the NFL and successfully overturned suspensions. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, meanwhile, has maintained the leagues findings were accurate. Len Dawson Youth Jersey . They were only one stroke ahead of Adrien Saddier of France, the biggest mover with six birdies in his opening seven holes in a round of 64, South African Thomas Aiken (70) and Denmarks Thorbjorn Olesen (68) on a packed leaderboard. Christian Okoye Chiefs Jersey . The Italian side scored twice in a four-minute span in the second half to defeat former stars from S.CLEVELAND — Mike Aviles has built a reputation as a solid player off the bench. Hes not doing a bad job being in the lineup every day either. Aviles hit a three-run homer in the second inning and added the go-ahead single in the eighth to help the Cleveland Indians beat the Colorado Rockies 7-6 on Saturday. Thanks to several injuries around the infield, Aviles has been seeing more action the last several weeks. And thats just fine with manager Terry Francona. ”He knows hes going to play more than the average guy who doesnt start, so he stays in shape and stays ready,” Francona said. ”He knows how to play the game. You almost go looking for ways to get him into the game.” Clevelands bullpen couldnt hold a 6-2 lead in the seventh, but Aviles saved the day when he lined a single to right with one out that scored Jason Kipnis, who drew a leadoff walk as a pinch-hitter. ”I figured he wasnt going to give me anything on the plate, so I tried to be patient, which really isnt my style, but I got one to hit and was lucky enough that it fell in,” Aviles said. Kipnis wasnt in the starting lineup after playing two games since missing a month with an oblique injury. He batted for Jesus Aguilar, forcing Rockies manager Walt Weiss to call on left-hander Rex Brothers (2-3). Kipnis walked and took second on Lonnie Chisenhalls sacrifice. Aviles lined a hit to right field and Kipnis slid home ahead of Charlie Blackmons throw. Chisenhall had a two-run homer in the sixth. The Indians handed their bullpen a 6-2 lead through six innings, but Corey Dickersons solo homer and Blackmons three-run shot tied it in the seventh. Bryan Shaw (2-1) pitched 1 2-3 scoreless innings. Cody Allen worked the ninth for his third save as the Rockies fell to 2-6 on their nine-game trip. ”It hasnt been easy, but all the guys all through the lineup fought well, especially the top and bottom of the order,” Weiss said. ”Things just arent going our way right now.” Trevor Bauer allowed two runs and matched a career high with eight strikeouts in six innings, but Clevelands bullpen imploded. Len Dawson Jersey. Scott Athchison retired the first hitter before Dickerson homered. Following singles by Wilin Rosario and DJ LeMahieu, Josh Outman relieved, but Blackmon homered on the left-handers first and only pitch to tie the game. Aviles three-run homer in the second and a two-run blast by Chisenhall helped Cleveland build its lead. ”On a normal day that was out for sure, but with the wind swirling like that, you never know,” Aviles said. ”The wind was changing directions all day.” Bauer, making his fourth start of the season, allowed two runs in the third but struck out Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki with runners on second and third to end the inning. The right-hander retired 11 of the final 12 hitters he faced. Bauer, who had been battling the flu bug for a couple of days, retired the first seven hitters before running into problems in the third. Rosario drew a one-out walk and LeMahieu doubled to right. Rosario stopped at third, but scored when David Murphys throw to second hit LeMahieu and rolled into left field, allowing Rosario to score on the error. LeMahieu went to third and scored on Blackmons single. Michael Cuddyer singled and a double steal put runners at second and third, but Bauer struck out Gonzalez and Tulowitzki. Gonzalez struck out in all four at-bats. Aviles homer capped a four-run second. Morales held the Indians scoreless until the sixth. Aguilar walked with one out before Chisenhall homered to right to right on a 2-2 pitch. NOTES: Cuddyer made his first start at third base since 2010. He appeared in 171 games at third base over six years with Minnesota. … Outman, who pitched for Colorado the last two seasons, was acquired in a trade for OF Drew Stubbs. Stubbs batted sixth and played centre field Saturday. … Indians 1B Nick Swisher (sore left knee) is doing rehab work in a pool. …. CHARLOTTE, N. Fjallraven Kanken No 2 Laptop 15 .C. — Panthers offensive tackle Jordan Gross is saying goodbye to the NFL after 11 seasons. The Panthers confirmed the three-time Pro Bowl left tackle will announce his retirement at a news conference on Wednesday at the stadium. ”Jordan has been a great Panther and he will be missed,” Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said Tuesday in a text message. Cam Newton agreed. The Pro Bowl quarterback said in a text message, ”It was truly a pleasure to play with Jordan. He always had my back. He will be missed.” Just wholl replace Gross at left tackle is uncertain. Gross, 33, was a first-round pick by Carolina in 2003 and started a franchise-record 167 games. He went to his third Pro Bowl this past season as an alternate. Gross contract had expired with the Panthers earlier this month, but there was still some question as to whether he might agree to return for one more season. He went on vacation with his family last week to Idaho to contemplate whether or not to retire. Gross told the teams website, Panthers.com, that it was the right time to step away. ”Ive played a lot of football here, and Ive seen a lot of guys come and a lot of guys go,” Gross told the website. ”Sometimes it ends well for guys, and sometimes it is not the ending they were looking for.” Gross said he didnt want to leave until the team was in good position for sustained success. He believes the team is there now. ”There is good, young leadership, there are talented players, and there are guys that really want to work hard and want to win,” Gross said. Former quarterback Jake Delhomme, who played with Gross from 2003-2009, called him the ”ultimate professional.” ”He was a hell of a player, and a great gentleman,” Delhomme said. ”The thing is I dont believe he got the respect he deserved around the league.” Delhomme said the 6-foot-4, 305-pound Gross was extremely athletic, humble and driven. ”We he was a rookie in 2003, his initial thoughts heading into minicamp were Oh gosh, please dont (stink),” Delhomme said with a laugh. ”That was the mentality he always took. It wasnt a fear, but it was a mentality of, hey, Ive got to be good every day. Thats how Jordan prepared every day.” Panthers tight end Greg Olsen said he spoke to Gross recently and half-jokingly tried to convince him to return. But he said Gross already had his mind made up. ”Hes such a great player and Im really happy for him,” Olsen said. ”When I talked to him, I know he feels good not only about his body of work and his career, but also the impact he had on this organization. He was always a stand-up guy. He has the respect of all of his teammates. Hes the type of guy you want if youre an NFL franchise.” Gross joined the Panthers in 2003 and stepped right in as a starter, helping Carolina reach the Super Bowl as a rookie. However, Gross spent the next 10 years trying to get back, but the Panthers could never make it past the NFC championship game. Gross decision creates a void for the Panthers at left tackle. Bruce Campbell, Garry Williams and starting right tackle Byron Bell are potential replacements, but the team could look for help in free agency or the draft. The Panthers have the 28th pick in the draft. Olsen said it will be difficult to replace Gross after the Panthers went 12-4 this past season, but said young players will have to step up. ”Jordan has been top notch for his whole career,” Olsen said. ”Hes tough to lose. But every year it happens around the league — you lose players to retirement or injury. You have to move on and fill that role.” Wide receiver Steve Smith is the only remaining player from Carolinas Super Bowl team in 2003 that lost 32-29 to the New England Patriots on a last-second field goal by Adam Vinatieri. Gross current and former teammates immediately took to Twitter to comment on the news. Said Smith: ”Since 1999 until 2day (at)J2theGross and I have been in same huddle. Today its has stopped I salute JG, great player better man!!! Love ya.” Said Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson: ”One of the best to ever play in a panther jersey. I wish he would stay but you gotta do what u gotta.” Offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz, a former teammate of Gross with the Panthers, wrote that Gross ”was an outstanding mentor and Im so thankful he decided to help me when I was a young naive rookie.” Fjallraven Kanken Classic Backpack UK . CINCINNATI, Ohio — Adam Wainwright won 19 games last season and finished second in the NL Cy Young voting. So far, his encore is even better. Wainwright became the National Leagues first eight-game winner by dominating Cincinnati again, and the St. Louis Cardinals pulled away to a 4-0 victory Sunday night that completed another successful series against their division rival. The Cardinals are 6-3 against the Reds this season. Theyve won 10 of their last 11 series together. Overall, St. Louis has won nine of its last 11 games and moved within 1 1-2 games of first-place Milwaukee in the NL Central. Wainwright (8-2) beat Johnny Cueto and the Reds on opening day in Cincinnati, allowing only three hits during seven innings of a 1-0 victory. On Sunday, the right-hander gave up five hits in eight innings and matched his career high with 12 strikeouts. ”Thats the epitome of pitching, in my opinion,” manager Mike Matheny said. ”The people watching today maybe on the national (television) game, I hope they had an appreciation for what this guy does and how he does it.” Wainwright set the tone by striking out five of the first six batters on a total of 24 pitches. He got Brandon Phillips on three pitches that clocked 73, 91 and 93 mph. The one disappointment for Wainwright last season was his rough showing against the Reds — 1-3 in four starts with a 7.77 ERA. Hes fixed that problem. ”Last year I was a one-side-of-the-plate pitcher and they just crushed me,” Wainwright said. ”This year, Im pitching a lot differently. Im using both sides of the plate.” Tony Cruz and Kolten Wong each had a pair of singles and drove in a run off Mike Leake (2-4). Wong also stole a pair of bases. The game drew 42,273 fans, the Reds third sellout crowd of the season. All three sellouts have come against the Cardinals. Leake went six innings and continued his streak of solid pitching. The right-hander hasnt allowed more than two runs in any of his last five starts, giving up a total of eight earned runs. With Wainwright on his game again, it was two runs too much. Fjallraven Kanken No.2 Backpack Black. Wainwright lowered his ERA to 1.67. In his last two starts, he has given up only six hits and no runs in 17 innings. ”Ive never felt like this,” the 31-year-old pitcher said. ”Thats part of of the evolution of me. I expected to get better as I got older, and a little wiser. ”Now that Im over 30 years old, I dont think theres any reason for me to start to decline. I think I should still try to get better and expect to get better.” Cruz led off the third inning with a single and advanced on Wainwrights sacrifice bunt. Wong singled up the middle with two outs for a run. Matt Adams singled, Allen Craig walked and Cruz singled home a run with two outs in the sixth. The Cardinals added a pair of runs in the seventh with the help of two errors by the Reds, who lead the majors in fielding percentage. Wainwright pitched out of Cincinnatis best threat in the fifth, when the Reds got runners to second and third with two outs. He got Billy Hamilton on a called third strike to end the inning. Hamilton struck out four times against Wainwright on opening day and three more times Sunday, leaving him 0 for 7 with seven strikeouts and a walk off the right-hander. NOTES: The Cardinals return home for an afternoon game against the Yankees on Monday, with Michael Wacha (3-3) facing Chase Whitley (0-1). The Reds fly to Los Angeles for an evening game against the Dodgers, sending Cueto (4-3) against Hyun-Jin Ryu (4-2). … Wong extended his hitting streak to seven games. … C Yadier Molina got a day of rest. … OF Peter Bourjos was better, but still out of the lineup a day after he got a stomach virus. … RHP Mat Latos made his first rehab start for Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, allowing three hits and two runs in four innings. The Reds want him to make at least two more starts in the minors. … RF Jay Bruce went 1 for 12 with seven strikeouts during the series, which marked his return from torn knee cartilage. ‘ ‘ ‘

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida – However you slice it, the Blue Jays need to add two starting pitchers before the season starts on March 31 in Tampa Bay. Sandy Koufax Dodgers Jersey . Whether the return to health of Brandon Morrow and the emergence of one of the clubs pitching prospects – Drew Hutchison, Kyle Drabek, Sean Nolin, Marcus Stroman – add up to two arms or whether acquisitions are made via trade or through free agency, the rotation must improve in order for Toronto to contend. With the wrap up of this mass gathering of owners, executives, media and the odd player, general manager Alex Anthopoulos hopes now is the time he can truly get down to business. “I actually get relieved when we leave the winter meetings,” said Anthopoulos. “I find we can get back to work a little bit when we get back home. Theres too much going on here with every team. Theyve got agent meetings, clubs and I think people, including us, can just get paralyzed.” Despite his feeling toward the three day event, Anthopoulos believes hes laid the foundation for possible moves. “Similar, I would say,” said Anthopoulos when asked to compare his work to that of past winter meetings. “There are some things that we could do. Were trying to do more than one thing, especially on the trade market. We have so many assets so were trying to figure out, okay, how can we divide up all these assets and make sure that we get these two or three things rather than just use too many assets to get one and then were stuck.” Despite a disappointing 2013 and the expectation of a bounce back next year, he doesnt feel rushed to make a move and wont be pressured. “Were comfortable going into any time,” said Anthopoulos. “Theres no timeline of December, January. Whenever it happens, it happens. We did the Vernon Wells deal in late January.” KNUCKLING UP One-time Blue Jay Tomo Ohka is back in the fold, signing a minor league contract. Ohka, 37, is attempting to follow the path of R.A. Dickey and reestablish his career as a knuckleballer. “The one thing is hes a good athlete,” said general manager Alex Anthopoulos. “Hes got a repeatable delivery and he was a strike thrower, which is a pretty good combination. How much success he has, how it works, too hard to tell but he does have some of the ingredients and he has a will, he has a will to do it.” Anthopoulos has approached R.A. Dickey about tutoring Ohka and Dickey has agreed to be of help where he can. Dickey successfully transitioned from being a conventional pitcher to a knuckleballer. Expect Ohka to begin the 2014 season with Double-A New Hampshire. Ohka made 10 starts for the Blue Jays in 2007, posting a record of 2-5 with a 5.79 ERA. He spent three-and-a-half seasons with the Montreal Expos, winning 27 games, before moving with the franchise to Washington for the 2005 season. RULE 5 DRAFT The Blue Jays selected left-hander Brian Moran from the Seattle Mariners but promptly traded him to the Los Angeles Angels for international cap space. The deal affords the Jays a higher monetary ceiling in the pursuit of young, draft ineligible international free agents. CURBING COLLISIONS The push is on to ban collisions between base runners and catchers at home plate. “I dont have a strong feeling one way or the other, I could go either way,” said Anthopoulos on whether home plate collisions should stay in, or be removed from, the game. “Theres more money involved. Salaries are going up. Its tough when you lose these guys with collisions and things like that. I think thats a big factor, obviously. You just cant afford to have some of your star players going down.” A draft document detailing the new rule will be ready in January, at which point it will require approval from the rules committee, owners and the Players Association. Fines and suspensions are expected to be among the penalties for offenders in home plate collisions. Corey Seager Jersey . Gonzalez homered for the fourth consecutive game and the Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks 8-6 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep. Gonzalezs three-run shot off Trevor Cahill (0-4) in the third inning gave him 10 RBIs in the series. He has 27 career home runs and 87 RBIs against the Diamondbacks, most among active players. ”Man, hes smoking the ball,” teammate Matt Kemp said. ”Hes probably the best hitter in the league right now.” Kemp and Juan Uribe also homered for the Dodgers, who scored 22 runs in the series. ”This is a good place to hit,” Gonzalez said. ”You go out here and take BP (batting practice) and the ball carries out of the ballpark. You take some of those swings and it kind of makes you feel better as a hitter.” Dan Haren (2-0) allowed three runs in 5 2-3 innings to get the victory. Mark Trumbo hit a three-run home run and Eric Chavez had a solo shot for the Diamondbacks, who are off to a 4-11 start. Dee Gordon stole a career-best four bases, the most by a Dodger in a game since Rafael Furcal did it against Arizona in 2007. ”Hes always been able to do that,” Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said, ”but now hes getting on base a lot. Hes walking and hes getting his hits. Thats what really changes the dynamic.” Cahill failed to make it through the fifth inning for the third time in his four starts. He went four innings plus two batters, allowing seven runs — six earned — on seven hits. Cahill struck out eight but walked five. Asked why Cahill can be good for a stretch then fall apart, Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said, ”I think youd have to ask Trevor that. I dont have an answer for you.” Cahill said the walks were a big problem, and that one pitch to Gonzalez. ”I made a mistake and Adrians been swinging it good this series,” Cahill said. ”I kind of got away from the game plan with him and left a pitch down and in, right in his sweet spot.” Haren scattered nine hits, striking out five and walking onne. David Freese Dodgers Jersey. Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save and second in as many games. The Dodgers led 8-3 before Trumbos sixth home run of the season, off Jamey Wright with two outs in the seventh, cut it to 8-6. Gonzalez, who also doubled, had an extra-base hit for the eighth consecutive game, one shy of the franchise record. Ten of Gonzalezs 14 hits this season have gone for extra bases. Kemps line shot into the Arizona bullpen down the left field line put the Dodgers up 1-0 in the second. Gordon walked to start the fourth, then stole second and third. Yasiel Puig walked and Hanley Ramirez bounced one high off the plate to Cahill, beating the throw to first for an infield RBI single. Gonzalez hit a 1-1 pitch into the right field seats to bring in three runs and Los Angeles led 5-0. Arizona got three in its half of the third. Parra led off with a double and scored on Aaron Hills triple to the left-centre gap. Goldschmidts groundout scored Hill, then Chavez skied one to the right field seats on the first pitch to cut the lead to 5-3. In the fifth, Cahill walked Ramirez, then Gonzalez lashed a double to right and the Arizona right-handers day was over. Randall Delgado, who just lost his spot in the rotation, came on in relief. Gonzalez scored on Andre Ethiers groundout, then first baseman Paul Goldschmidt couldnt snag a high bouncer for an error that brought in the Dodgers seventh run. Parra recorded the first right field-to-first putout in Diamondbacks history when he threw out Haren after the pitcher appeared to have singled. It was the first throw-out at first from the right fielder in the majors in two seasons. NOTES: The Dodgers struck out 15 times and were outhit 13-7. … Gordon, who has nine steals, stole second in the sixth while Delgado was kicking the rubber and not paying attention. … The Dodgers have Monday off, then open a three-game series in San Francisco on Tuesday. … The New York Mets begin a three-game series at Arizona on Monday night. Josh Collmenter (0-0, 2.25 ERA) comes out of the bullpen to start for the Diamondbacks, Zack Wheeler (0-2, 2.25) goes for the Mets. ‘ ‘ ‘

Buffalo Sabres interim coach Ted Nolan spoke to the Buffalo News Wednesday and said he believes they should build their team around goaltender Ryan Miller, who is set to become an unrestricted free agency this summer. Nike Pegasus 33 Homme Noir . ”You look at all the championship teams and it starts from goaltending out. … I prefer you build around him rather than use him as a pawn to try and get something to make you better,” Nolan told the Buffalo News. ”You learn to deal with the now as a coach and weve got one of the better goaltenders in the world here and Id like to build around him myself.” Though Nolan said he does not discuss contracts with players. He did however mention he had spoken with President of Hockey Operations Pat LaFontaine about creating a culture that draws in the best players. ”I talked to Pat about this and I said the one thing we want to do is create an environment where people want to come here and stay here,” Nolan said. ”Hopefully he likes what were doing. You never know.” After the New York Rangers recent signing of goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, Miller, Jaroslav Halak (Blues) and Jonas Hiller (Ducks) are the remaining top unrestricted free agent goaltenders. Villarreal entered the clash flying, having won six straight across all competitions and coming off a 3-0 win over Cadiz in the Copa del Rey. They had little trouble getting the ball rolling as Jonathan dos Santos opened the scoring after just 10 minutes. Villarreal went into the break holding the one-goal lead and doubled the advantage in the 68th minute when Vietto fired home his first goal of the day. Five minutes later Vietto completed his double to make it 3-0, but the hosts went down to 10 men with 10 minutes to play when Tomas Pina was shown a straight red card. Homme COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Vapormax Blanc/Bleu Clair. The Ukrainian Paralympic Committee decided against boycotting the games, announcing a few hours before Fridays opening ceremony that its athletes would stay. The decision came after discussions between Ukrainian officials and athletes over whether to pull out in light of the crisis back home and Russias military takeover of the Crimean peninsula. ”We are staying at the Paralympics,” Valeriy Sushkevich, president of the National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine, said at a news conference. However, he added that the circumstances were far from ideal. ”I dont remember a situation when the organizing country during a Paralympics started an intervention on the territory of a country taking part,” Sushkevich said, according to the R-Sport agency. ”I dont know what to extent the team can focus on the result now.” The Ukrainian official said the team would leave Sochi if there is any escalation of military conflict. ”I declare should this happen we will leave the games,” Sushkevich said. ”We cannot possibly stay here in this case.” He said he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday night to discuss the situation and request peace during the games. Suskevich said he did not receive any guarantees but it was important that Putin agreed to listen. Putin and IOC President Thomas Bach are expected to attend Fridays opening ceremony. Several countries have decided not to send political leaders or dignitaries to the ceremony in protest of Russias actions in Ukkraine. Swell Bottle Liberty Of London. Ukraines decision to compete in Sochi was welcomed by the International Paralympic Committee. ”We want sport to prevail and a full complement of teams to compete in what we are confident will be a fantastic Paralympic Winter Games,” IPC President Phillip Craven said. ”All week the IPC has been working closely with the Ukrainian Paralympic Committee in an effort to keep them here in Sochi. The talking point of Sochi 2014 needs to be great sport and great athletes, not global politics.” The IPC has appealed for Russia to recognize the U.N.s Olympic Truce, which asks warring parties to cease hostilities during the Olympics and Paralympics. About 575 athletes from 45 countries are due to compete in the 10-day Paralympics. Five sports are on the program — alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, biathlon, sledge hockey and wheelchair curling. Ukraine has entered 23 athletes for the Sochi Paralympics. It finished fifth in the medals table at the Winter Paralympics in Vancouver in 2010, with a total of 19 medals and five gold. Ukrainian athletes chanted ”peace to Ukraine” as they apparently walked out of a flag-raising ceremony in Sochi on Thursday night. That is now under investigation by the IPC as a possible breach of rules banning political protests. ”What were trying to do is gather the evidence, gather the transcripts and then we will see if any steps are necessary,” IPC spokesman Craig Spence said. ”If there was a political protest, obviously wed be disappointed by that because we have said all week that this is about sport, not politics.” ‘ ‘ ‘

The New York Rangers put forth their best effort of the Eastern Conference second round to take Game 5 and stave off elimination. Rickey Jackson Saints Jersey . The Blueshirts hope to stay alive once again when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins in Sundays Game 6 battle at Madison Square Garden. New York recorded a 5-1 victory Friday evening in Pittsburgh to cut its series deficit to 3-2. It was the first win for the Rangers since they claimed Game 1 in the Steel City by a 3-2 score in overtime. In order to extend this best-of-seven set to a decisive seventh game, however, New York will have to pick up its first home victory of the series. The Rangers lost Games 3 and 4 at MSG to the Pens and were outscored by a combined 6-2 margin in those contests. New York is 3-3 on home ice in this postseason, but has won its last five games at the Garden when facing elimination. The Rangers are 8-2 over their last 10 elimination games overall. The Rangers hope to build off Fridays emotional victory in Pittsburgh. Perhaps drawing additional inspiration from the presence of forward Martin St. Louis, who returned to the team one day after his mother, France, suddenly passed away in his native Quebec, the Rangers sense of urgency was evident right from the start in Game 5. St. Louis registered just one shot on goal in 16-plus minutes of ice time, but his participation in the game was enough to inspire his teammates. ”We played for Marty and his family,” said Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. ”Thats the thing we had going for us.” It expects to be another emotional night on Sunday, as St. Louis sister and father expect to be in attendance at MSG. New York outshot the Penguins 10-3 over the games opening 10 minutes and peppered Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury with 17 chances while jumping out to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. After mustering a mere two goals over three straight losses in their Eastern Conference semifinal series, the Rangers scored four over the first two periods en route to the blowout victory. Derick Brassard led the charge with a pair of goals and an assist, with Mats Zuccarello lending three helpers to support a 31-save effort from Lundqvist. Ryan McDonagh and Chris Kreider each added a goal and an assist, while Kevin Klein tacked on an empty-net tally to finish off the rout. ”We needed to step up tonight,” said Brassard. ”I dont think the last two games … we were OK. We didnt play bad but we were nothing special. We just tried to play hard today. We had some lucky bounces and we made some plays.” Kreider, playing for just the second time in this postseason after missing time with a broken hand, began New Yorks outburst by putting home a long rebound of a McDonagh shot with the Rangers on the power play midway through the first period. The goal snapped an 0-for-36 drought with the man advantage for New York, tied with the 2007 Anaheim Ducks for the longest in NHL playoff history. The Rangers finished the night 2-for-3 on the power play and is 5-for-47 with the man advantage in this postseason. ”I think weve been doing some things well on the power play,” Kreider said. ”Its hard when you see that looming statistic. But its nice when you finally get one. I think it was huge. I think it was a really important goal.” Evgeni Malkin had the lone goal for Pittsburgh, which is trying to go 5-0 all- time in playoff series against the Rangers. Fleury, who helped Pittsburgh build a 3-1 series lead by recording shutouts in Games 2 and 3, stopped just 30-of-34 shots on Friday. ”They came really hard, really aggressive down the walls,” Pittsburgh head coach Dan Bylsma said of the Rangers. ”We turned over a few pucks as a result, let to their offensive-zone time. In addition to that we had some unforced errors.” Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik did not play after sustaining an undisclosed injury in Wednesdays Game 4 win. Robert Bortuzzo filled in for Orpik in Game 5 and will likely do so again on Sunday. Pittsburgh is 9-2 all-time in series when holding a 3-1 lead. The last time the Penguins blew a 3-1 lead was in the 2011 Eastern Conference quarterfinals against Tampa Bay when both Sidney Crosby and Malkin were injured and missed the series. New Orleans Saints Jerseys . — Maxence Parrot of Bromont, Que. Chauncey Gardner-Johnson Saints Jersey . The tour announced a year ago that Singh would be suspended for saying in a Sports Illustrated story that he took deer antler spray, which was believed to contain the banned substance IGF-1.The football ratings say that the Western Mustangs are the number one college football team in this country. But their coach Greg Marshall says Laval, also undefeated and rated number two, ”are the champs until they are knocked out” in his mind. In fact, for the first time since the CIS college football ratings came out, three teams across this country have finished the regular season undefeated. In addition to Western and Laval the Calgary Dinos finished with a perfect 8-0 mark. Western is generally acclaimed as the top school in the nation and certainly in Ontario where there is much competition with Guelph and Queens (both finished at 7-1). Queens and Guelph are in the national top 10 and both lost their only game to Western. Pat Sheahan, the head coach at Queens, told TSN.ca that Western is ”way out in front this year. Theyve scored 50 points against all teams this year, their quarterback Will Finch set an all-time CIS passing record and theyve got talent and support. They are deserving of the number one rating.” The No. 2 team Laval became perhaps the only team ever to slip from the number one spot to the number two position while scoring 50 points and winning their game. This took place after week four and as CIS P.R. man Michel Belanger told me ”Yes, Laval scored 52 points against Sherbrooke but gave up over 30 points in that game. We felt Western deserved the number one rating.” Western coach Greg Marshall told TSN.ca ”the ratings say we are No. 1 but (to) our team that honour belongs to Laval. They are also undefeated and are the defending champions so until they lose thats how we feel about it. Id love to meet them and the only way that is possible is in the Vannier Cup. Cameron Jordan Youth Jersey. .” Laval plays Sherbrooke at home this weekend and hasnt lost a home game since 2004! Coming in a little bit under the radar, as the expression goes, are the Calgary Dinos. Head coach Blake Nill is on the verge of winning his sixth straight division title. Nill won six straight AUS titles when he was at Saint Marys. From 1999-2003 he took the Huskies to four Vanier Cups in five years, and became the first coach ever to be in a Vanier Cup three consecutive years (2001-03) and winning the Vanier in 2001 and 2002. That has been equalled by Laval coach Glen Constantine. Nill took the Dinos from an 0-8 record in 2006 and after working his recruiting magic has won the league title since 2008. He certainly built a dynasty and plays UBC at home this weekend. ”Weve had some good breaks along the way,” says Nill. One of the biggest breaks came in the first half of the very first season game when the league MVP Eric Dzwilewski went down for the season and third year man Andrew Buckley, who had seen very little game action, took control and didnt miss a beat. ”To have the results that he did under the circumstances that he became the starter is amazing,” Nill told me. ”His passing completion percentage is around 75 per cent, not too many guys can make that claim in college ball.” Calgary hosts UBC in the semifinal. It should be an interesting playoff weekend. Will all three undefeated teams make it? And if the top two teams should advance and meet it will be in Quebec City as Laval hosts the Vanier Cup. Maybe Western coach Greg Marshall will get his wish. For TSN.ca, Im Alex J. Walling. Alex J. can be reached via email at: ajw@eastlink.ca ‘ ‘ ‘

Pep Guardiola says his success as a manager is thanks to the education he received under the late Johan Cruyff at Barcelona. Jordan Black Friday Outlet . WASHINGTON — Sidney Crosby was everywhere Monday night, from start to finish. All of 46 seconds into the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 victory over Alex Ovechkins struggling Washington Capitals, Crosby assisted on Chris Kunitzs goal. Then, after Washington made it 1-all, Crosby drew a penalty. And 11 seconds later, on Pittsburghs third shot of the evening, Crosby put the puck in the net himself. Later, with the score again tied, Crosby had the secondary assist on Kunitzs second goal. And finally, when Ovechkin and the Capitals had a power play for most of the last two minutes, Crosby was on the ice, helping kill off the chance. ”It was a very good game,” Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said about Crosby. ”All aspects.” Now theres an understatement. ”We saw a 5-on-5 play. We saw the speed (Crosbys line can) generate, and got the scoring chances,” Bylsma added. ”Used him in defensive situations, and (he) did a great job there on the penalty kill in the third.” Crosby finished with his 30th goal and two assists to raise his NHL-leading point total to 87, matching his uniform number. The Penguins beat Washington for the seventh consecutive time and overtook idle Boston for the Eastern Conferences best record. The Capitals, who began the day outside of the playoff picture in 10th place in the East, have lost four of their past five games to fall into what Ovechkin called a ”desperate position.” The teams play each other again Tuesday at Pittsburgh. Mondays game featured the largely uneventful NHL debut of Russian forward Evgeny Kuznetsov, a player Capitals general manager George McPhee likened to the Loch Ness Monster: ”Weve heard of you, but we havent seen you.” The winger was a first-round draft pick in 2010, but has been playing in Russia. He signed a contract Saturday and got on the ice for the first time about two minutes into Mondays game, part of Washingtons fourth line with Tom Wilson and Jay Beagle. Wearing No. 92, Kuznetsov also got a bit of a run alongside Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom,, and even some power-play action. Cheap Jordan Black Friday. He took 12 shifts for 10 minutes, 22 seconds, took two shots and blocked one. ”We have to be patient and be realistic about expectations, because its a foreign league for him. Its a foreign system. Hes never played this way,” Capitals coach Adam Oates said. ”Hes never played in front of this many people, really. So for me, I want to ease him in.” Penguins rookie goalie Jeff Zatkoff made 31 saves. Ovechkin, the three-time MVP who leads the NHL with 44 goals, was held without a point and was limited to four shots. Pittsburgh went ahead 1-0 on its first shot, when Crosby slid the puck across the ice to left wing Kunitz. Easily gliding past defenceman Mike Green, Kunitz flipped his shot past Jaroslav Halak, still wearing an all-white goalies mask in his second start for Washington after arriving last week in a trade. Green, Oates said, ”got caught a little flat-footed on the play, probably a little surprised at the end of the shift that Kunitz had that much juice.” The Capitals evened things less than 2 1/2 minutes later on Eric Fehrs 11th goal. That tie did not last long: 38 seconds afterward, Backstrom was sent to the penalty box for slashing Crosby — who soon made it 2-1 off Evgeni Malkins assist. ”I dont take too many of those. Its nice to see one go in,” Crosby said. ”Im usually a little closer when they go in.” The Capitals got to 2-all on Backstroms power-play score at the 8:57 mark of the second period. This tie was a short one, too, lasting a little more than 3 1/2 minutes. And, not surprisingly, Crosby was involved in Pittsburghs goal again. He dropped a no-look pass back to Lee Stempniak, whose shot was kicked away by Halak, but Kunitz was there to poke in the rebound for his 31st goal. Oates summed it up this way: ”Their big dogs scored.” Notes: Pittsburgh went 3-2 on its season-high five-game road trip. … Kuznetsovs appearance marked Washingtons fourth game in a row in which a player made his debut with the club. ‘ ‘ ‘

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Fake NFL Jerseys Online . — Sacramentos City Council on Tuesday approved a financing plan for the Kings NBA franchise, clearing the way for construction on a $477 million downtown arena. The council voted 7-2 on the package during a meeting that caps off the citys lengthy struggle to keep the team from moving to Seattle a year ago. Mayor Kevin Johnson declared ”Long live the Kings” after the final vote, and the chamber erupted in cheers along with team owners. ”We had our backs against the wall, but we defied the odds. We made a comeback for the ages and in doing so, I feel like we unleashed the very best that Sacramento has to offer,” said Johnson, a former three-time NBA All-Star who maintains strong connections to the league. Under the 35-year deal, the city would be responsible for a $223 million subsidy, much of it financed through a parking revenue bond. The city would pay an estimated $21.9 million a year in debt service that would be paid through lease payments from the Kings and a projected increase in parking revenue. The city also is transferring $32 million worth of land and allowing the team to operate six digital billboards. In return, the Kings would contribute $254 million to construct the arena and develop surrounding land with a hotel, office tower and shopping. Construction on the crown-shaped sports facility will break ground this summer and open in time for the 2016-17 season. At the start of the council meeting, Kings President Chris Granger called it a historic day for the team and Sacramento region, saying the arena would serve as a hub for economic development. The project would bring 11,000 construction jobs and 4,000 permanent jobs, he said. ”This is certainly bigger than basketball,” Granger said. ”But it doesnt just end there. At the very core, this project is about community.” The NBA had told the city that it must open the arena by 2017 or risk losing the Kings. Former Kings owners George, Joe and Gavin Maloof considered moving the team to Las Vegas, Anaheim and Virginia Beach, Virginia, until announcing an agreement that called for investor Chris Hansen to buy the team and move it to Seattle. Johnson led the city in a fight to keep the Kings and got the City Council to approve a plan for a new arena. The Maloofs then sold the Kings to a group led by TIBCO Software Chairman Vivek Ranadive. The council approved a financing plan that allows for construction on the new sports and entertainment complex to replace an aging shopping mall a few blocks from the Capitol. The Kings have played in Sacramento since 1985 and currently play in the 26-year-old Sleep Train Arena, in the citys north end. Scott VandenBerg, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Sacramento and chairman of the board of the Sacramento Convention and Visitors Bureau, told the council that the arena will support new and existing businesses by expanding tourism. ”Just the speculation that an entertainment and sports complex was going to be approved has already helped improve the health of our downtown core,” VandenBerg said. Council members who opposed the deal said that the projects economic benefits are overstated and fear the city isnt getting enough from a public subsidy. Councilman Darrell Fong said the arena adds too much debt. ”I know my vote wont stop this deal,” Fong said. ”Believe me, I hope Im proven wrong.” A majority, however, hailed Tuesday as a pivotal moment for elevating the citys reputation. ”Its not just about a venue for entertainment and sports; its about the type of life that people get to have when they choose to live in our region,” said Councilwoman Angelique Ashby. Critics unsuccessfully tried to block the citys subsidy with a petition drive that failed to qualify for the ballot. Opponents including Patrick Soluri, a Sacramento attorney, vowed to continue to fight. ”The mayor and City Council no longer represent the interests of ordinary citizens,” Soluri told the council. ”Cronyism is running rampant, subsidies for the super-wealthy are handed out at the expense of working-class people and basic municipal services.” Before the vote, the team sponsored a rally outside City Hall to show support for the project, drawing hundreds of fans, many of them dressed in purple, the teams colour. Fake NFL Jerseys Free Shipping . – The Raiders have released guard Mike Brisiel after two disappointing seasons in Oakland. Fake NFL Jerseys For Sale . A third-place run in a World Cup super-G on Thursday typified Millers season: Fast and crowd-pleasing, but errors cost him victory. ”Im frustrated and worn out right now but I think I have more to do in the sport,” Miller said. ”I definitely am still competitive. If I can keep my body healthy then I think the plan is to race next year.” Millers racing skills were clear when he became the oldest-ever Olympic Alpine medallist last month, taking bronze in super-G at Sochi. On a steep and technically demanding slope Thursday, no one was faster than Millers speed check of 101.9 kph (63.3 mph). Still, he came down 0.57 seconds behind surprise winner Alexis Pinturault, with another Frenchman, Thomas Mermillod Blondin, edging him by one-hundredth. ”I had probably two and half seconds, three seconds, worth of mistakes, in that run,” Miller insisted. ”That is the way my season has been. I have had to deal with that.” Miller took full responsibility for his race, and a World Cup season that has brought him four podium finishes but no addition to his 33 career victories. ”It has been such a frustrating time of so many near-misses and so many really bad, stupid mistakes that I cant blame anyone but myself for,” he said. That list includes his top priority races: The classic World Cup downhill at Kitzbuehel, Austria, in January and the Olympic downhill last month. Miller finished third and eighth, respecctively, when the best of his skiing was good enough to win, and his practice runs left some racers awe-struck. Fake NFL Jerseys China. Here on Wednesday, Millers final downhill performance this season followed the same pattern. He led at the final time split — 0.30 faster than eventual winner Matthias Mayer of Austria, the Olympic champion — yet a mistake near the end took him wide into rough snow which slowed him. ”These errors arent little bobbles, they are like borderline catastrophic,” Miller explained. ”(Wednesday) I just got so broken down about halfway down the course I didnt even care anymore. I wanted to stop. I didnt even really tuck through the finish line.” Even standing up straight, he still placed eighth just 0.62 back. ”I really wanted to change that today just because I think thats not the way to race,” Miller acknowledged. ”I just wanted to really stay focused to push every hundredth out of it that I could, even though I knew I was going to be out of the course a few times.” ”I felt good about battling through it,” said the veteran racer, who has started a total of 32 World Cup and Olympics events this season after sitting out a year to recover from knee surgery. One incentive for returning strong next season is to race at the Feb. 2-15 world championships in front of home fans at Vail-Beaver Creek, Colorado. Thats for next season, after the current campaign closes with a giant slalom on Saturday. ”Right now,” Miller said, ”I feel like I dont want to see ski boots for a little while.” ‘ ‘ ‘

The Calgary Flames have made a pre-New Years roster adjustment acquiring forward Kevin Westgarth from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for centre Greg Nemisz. Brook Lopez Jersey . Westgarth has posted four penalty minutes and a minus-2 rating in 12 games with the Hurricanes this season. He is a veteran of five NHL seasons, appearing in 133 career games with the Hurricanes amd Los Angeles Kings, scoring three goals and six assists. Westgarths 2013-14 salary cap hit is worth $725,000. Nemisz has appeared in 32 games this season with the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League, scoring four goals and adding five assists. He has appeared in 15 career games with the Flames, registering just one assist. The Flames selected Nemisz 25th overall at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. More details to follow. Oscar Robertson Bucks Jersey . According the CSNBayArea.com, the 31-year-old suffered an ACL injury in his right knee on Friday when he collided with Anaheims Emerson Etem during a pre-season game. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Jersey . This has become the Raptors mantra as they embark on a new era with a new regime and, in the not-so-distant future, a new image. With Week 1 of the NFL and Fantasy season in the books, TSN.ca takes a look at the top performers (studs) and biggest disappointments (duds) of the opening week. Studs QB: Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford, Andrew Luck. Ryan set a Falcons franchise record with 448 yards against the Saints defence and added three touchdowns as the Falcons earned an overtime win. Ryan put up 31.42 fantasy points to lead all players in Week 1.   Stafford picked apart the Giants secondary for 346 yards and two touchdowns. He added a five-yard rushing touchdown to give him the second-best fantasy stat line of the week. Luck battled back from an awful first half against the Denver Broncos and put up 370 yards and two touchdowns in a losing effort. Lucks night was hurt by two interceptions and a failed quarterback sneak on fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line. Surprise Stud: Jake Locker Locker, an unpopular fantasy quarterback, spread the ball out against the Kansas City Chiefs with 226 passing yards and two touchdowns. Playing behind one of the best offensive lines in football, Locker connected with eight different receivers. He attempted to run the ball six times, but picked up just 14 yards. Locker finished as the fifth-best QB in Week 1. RB: LeVeon Bell, Marshawn Lynch. Bell added 88 receiving yards to his 109 yards and one touchdown on the ground to earn the highest point total of any running back this week. Working against the Packers defence, Marshawn Lynch churned out 110 yards and two touchdowns to finish less than a point behind Bell. Surprise Stud: Knowshon Moreno. Following off-season knee surgery and playing in just one preseason game, Moreno silenced his critics with 134 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots defence. Moreno played a major role in the Dolphins upset win and proved he can have success in an offence not run by Peyton Manning. Honourable mention to Mark Ingram (two rushing touchdowns). WR: Calvin Johnson, A.J. Green. Not surprisingly, Johnson proved why he was (or should have been) the first wide receiver off the board in every fantasy draft. Johnson hauled in a league-high 164 yards and added two touchdowns against the Giants to lead all wide outs in Week 1 points. Green burned the Ravens secondary for 131 yards and a touchdown, including the game-winning 77-yard score. Both these men should continue to dominate the fantasy world on the perimeter. Surprise Stud: Allen Hurns. Allen Who? Hurns, owned in virtually no fantasy leagues, finished second only to Megatron at wide receiver in points this week. An undrafted free agent from Miami, Hurns dominated in the preseason with 14 catches for 232 yards and continued his strong play on Sunday against the Eagles. Hurns hauled in four passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns while working as a starting wide receiver in his first career contest. Khris Middleton Jersey. Though the Jaguars passing offence remains questionable, Hurns may be worth a flier in fantasy leagues as long as Cecil Shorts remains sidelined. TE: Julius Thomas. Thomas dominated the tight end landscape with three touchdowns to go with his 104 receiving yards. Emerging as Peyton Mannings favourite red-zone target, Thomas could challenge Jimmy Graham as fantasys top tight end this season. Surprise stud: Larry Donnell. The stud title being used loosely, Donnell hauled in his first career touchdown and 56 yards in the Giants loss to the Lions on Monday. He had a team-high five receptions in the loss and could be a worthy fantasy tight end if Eli Manning continues to target him. Duds QB: Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo. It was no secret Rodgers had a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks defence and, with the exception of one drive, Rodgers and the Packers offence was all but shut down. Rodgers finished with 189 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Romo and the Cowboys offence got off to the worst start imaginable with three interceptions and a Demarco Murray fumble in the first half. Romo finished with 281 yards and a touchdown, but his three interceptions killed his stat line. RB: Jamaal Charles, Reggie Bush, Toby Gerhart. Charles had a disastrous start to his season with just 19 yards on the ground. He caught four passes for 19 yards but Charles, along with the Chiefs offence, was bottled up by the Titans in Week 1. Bush ran for just 15 yards on nine carries against the Giants on Monday night. He added six catches for 49 to help add points, but it was a disappointing night for the Lions lead back. Gerhart was touted as the focal point of the Jaguars offence this off-season but rushed for just 48 yards on 18 carries against the Eagles. Gerhart left the game briefly with an ankle injury before he returned with little effectiveness. Packers running back Eddie Lacy also struggled, but suffered a concussion in the first half. WR: Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas. Two of fantasys biggest names were amongst the biggest disappointments in Week 1. Facing the 49ers, Bryant put up just 55 yards, while Thomas hauled in just four of his 11 targets for 48 yards as the Broncos scored 31 points against the Colts. Both should bounce back, but not in time to save many of their owners from 0-1 starts. TE: Jason Witten, Jordan Cameron. A long standing top fantasy tight end, Witten was targeted just once by Romo on Sunday. He caught his lone target for 14 yards. Cameron, the top weapon in the Browns offence, had 47 receiving yards in the teams loss. His status for Week 2 is in question after sustaining a shoulder injury against the Steelers. For the top players worth picking up with this week, read the Waiver Wire. ‘ ‘ ‘
