Oscar de la Renta has made a Carrie Bradshaw wedding dress

Spare a thought for those of us who are getting married this summer and have already bought a dress…

Oscar de la Renta has made a Carrie Bradshaw wedding dress and we need it
Oscar de la Renta, who as any good SATC fan will know, designed some of the show’s dreamiest looks, has made a dress inspired by Carrie’s opening credits look.
It’s not for the faint hearted or the super traditional bride, but there is no question that this look brings Carie’s aesthetic bang up to date, with a 21st-century twist.

The dress was debuted New York Bridal Week by creative directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. They said that they had taken inspiration from SJP’s black and white Met gala dress.

We can see the homage to the Met Ball dress, but let’s be honest, with the full tulle skirt and tight semi-sheer top, the bridal gown is pretty much the sexier older sister to Carrie’s pink and white number.

We’re going to put it out there. We like the Oscar creation even more than the dress that Carrie actually got married in, which (as if you’ve forgotten) was a strapless Vivian Westwood dream.

A new initiative has been launched in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah, which recycles wedding dresses by lending them for free to other brides.

The initiative is aimed at reducing the wedding costs. It’s also hoped the scheme will help to reinforce the notion of keeping it simple and away from extravagance.

The Bride’s Exhibition currently offers more than 600 wedding dresses and a selection of accessories, crowns and shoes that are also loaned at no cost to brides.
